    Binder Quality Assurance
    Client: Law Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc.
    Conducted Superpave performance grading and verification tests for quality assurance testing on several projects
    .

    Implementation of SHRP Superpave Binder Laboratory for the Romanian Administration of Roads.
    Client: National Administration of Roads
    Set-up a complete SHRP Superpave binder laboratory in Romania. Project involved installing and calibrating a full set of SHRP Superpave binder equipment. Intense 3 week theoretical and hands-on training was conducted for a total of 6 engineers and technicians on the use of the SHRP Superpave binder equipment according to the AASHTO MP1 specification. In addition, installation and training was conducted on a Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) and a high shear colloidal mill.

    Mixtures
    Characterization of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement Material
    Client
    : F.O. Day
    Analyzed various reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) stockpiles to assist the contractor with the development of asphalt concrete mixture designs incorporating RAP. Performed extraction and recovery tests on multiple samples from each stockpile. Determined asphalt contents, aggregate gradations,
    Superpave consensus aggregate properties,
    and Superpave binder properties.

    Superpave Mixture Designs
    Client: Hempt Brothers, Inc.
    Prepared Superpave designs for 37.5 mm, 25.0 mm and 19.0 mm mixtures for use on I-83 near Harrisburg, PA. Over 130,000 tons of mix were placed on this project.

    Applied Research
    FHWA Contract DTFH61-95-C-00041: Technical Support for the FHWA Asphalt Research Program
    Client: Federal Highway Administration
    Provided technical support services for the FHWA asphalt research and technology program in accordance with various technical work requests issued by the FHWA. Most of the work involved the testing and analysis of asphalt binders and mixtures using the Superpave technology.
